9th grade students will take the EOC (end of course exam), which will count toward graduation.  10th-11th grade students will take the field test, meaning it will not count toward graduation.
This EOC test is significantly more difficult than the TAKS test and is timed. Students will have 4 hours for each test.  The English test is divided into two days with 4 hours for each day.  The first day is writing, which includes revision and three writing prompts (one is a field test, which won't count).  Day two for English will be reading, which may include any type of reading: prose, drama, and/or poetry.  The English EOC will be given at the end of March and all other EOCs will be given in May.  A testing schedule is also available on the TEA website.
